The Orkney Islands are an archipelago located off the northeastern coast of Scotland, rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. They consist of around 70 islands, of which 20 are inhabited, and have been home to various civilizations for over 5,000 years. Orkney is renowned for its archaeological treasures, Norse heritage, and stunning landscapes. We had never heard about these islands until they became part of our cruise itinerary in summer 2024. We visited for a day and below you can check out some things to do if you are visiting for a day in my blog post accompanied by some photos.
