Austria Travel Photography

Austria is one of the perfect destinations for your winter holidays, especially if you are looking for snow. I visited this country in December/January for the new year festivities. I was amazed first of all by the cold but also by the postcard-like scenery when it comes to mountains and snow. All these photos were taken in the Tirol region and western Austria.

My favourite spot was the lakeside village of Hallstatt. It is the perfect destination if you are looking for a tranquil village by the lake and surrounded by the mountains. This village is full of artisan shops, small restaurants and cafes. It was located over 3 hours away from where we were staying. However I can still say it was worth the drive, even though it was not the smoothest of trips. Driving in the snow can be challenging especially if you are not used to it. You need good tyres and ideally you need to avoid driving in the dark.
